Ixora coccinea. Our default low hedge on commercial sites: dense enough to clip, and it flowers on the new growth that clipping produces.

Care

• Light — full sun for flowers, part shade for foliage only
• Water — steady; it drops buds if it dries out completely
• Soil — slightly acid. Yellowing between the veins means the soil is too alkaline
• Prune — after each flush, to 15 cm below the height you want

Supplied at 30–40 cm in an 8 inch pot. Plant 45 cm apart for a closed hedge in two seasons.
